What a FANTASTIC Memorial Day Weekend! I can't remember a better one weather-wise. We took full advantage. We aren't really the camping/woodsy type, but we enjoy a good cookout - and this weekend was full of those!

Friday the little kids played outside for hours with the neighbor kids, running back and forth from pool to pool and swingset to swingset.

Despite the 50 spf sunscreen, they were bright red by Friday night. This put a damper on Saturday because I didn't want them out in the sun again until their skin healed up a bit. Friday night Lauren attended a fun birthday party.

Also Friday night, Bailey found out she made the Varsity football cheer squad as well as the competition squad. (nice kick-off to the weekend!)

Saturday was low-key. Mark built me a shelf for over my washer and dryer...and switched the machines around so the washer is FINALLY on the left - dryer on the right. That prompted a quick decorating frenzy - all garage sale finds or stolen from other rooms of the house. I had planned to have a garden-like room...but I realy don't have that many things to pull that off...so I may change that sign to say Welcome To The Laundry...we'll see.

Other than that, we didn't do too much - a good, relaxing day.

Sunday we had a great church service, followed by a cookout at Grandma & Grandpa's house.
(where I snapped this picture of the kids.
WHY didn't I have my real camera w/me?! WHY?! We'll be trying to recreate this shot next week when school's out.

Relaxing, family fun!
Later that afternoon the kids napped and then it was outside for more pool and sprinkler fun. Bailey enjoyed relaxation on the deck - shades on, toenails painted and flipping through a Seventeen magazine. Later, another cookout with our cul du sac neighbors. FABULOUS time! (even though Grant decided to get back in the pool with all of his clothes on!)

And Monday....another day of complete relaxation. I indulged in a Tori & Dean marathon while I nursed a killer headache, played with the kids outside in the yard and grilled a pork loin and made the season's first sweet corn. Aaaagh....summer!

And finally,
(that's A.M. people! A!M!)

I survived the 4 a.m. cheer invasion this morning where graduating Senior cheerleaders wake up new Varsity cheerleaders,
pick out their outfit for the day
(which included one flip flop and one fuzzy slipper),
and delivered a megaphone sign she has to wear around her neck all day. Then at 6 a.m. we left for IHOP
where she met up with the whole squad for breakfast. What a fun group of girls....what a tired Mom! =-)

Hope your weekend was every bit as wonderful!

what a "hoot."

I was up around the same time as you, but was surrounded by coffee once I arrived at my destination so that was probably better than not.
